roach coaches
Wheeled food vendors
Roach coaches are mobile food trucks, especially older or run-down ones serving construction sites, factory workers, or other blue-collar locations.
The term is mildly disparaging, implying questionable hygiene—as if roaches might be present.
Despite the nickname, many such trucks serve perfectly decent food: We grabbed lunch from the roach coach outside the plant.
