ring-barking
Bark removal method
Ring-barking is the practice of cutting a ring around a tree trunk, severing the bark and cambium layer to kill the tree by interrupting nutrient flow.
Farmers and land clearers use it to kill trees without felling them: They ring-barked the eucalypts to clear the paddock.
Also called girdling.
