revegetate
Restore plant cover
To revegetate is to restore plant life to land that has lost it—through fire, mining, construction, or other disturbance.
The term appears often in environmental contexts: The hillside was revegetated after the wildfire.
It can also describe natural recovery without human intervention: The abandoned lot slowly revegetated over the years.
