retranslation

Translated again, differently

Retranslation is the act of translating something again, either back into its original language or into a new version in the same target language.

A text may undergo retranslation when an earlier translation is deemed outdated, inaccurate, or stylistically inadequate: The novel has seen three English retranslations since 1950.

The term also covers translating something that has already been translated from another language—a translation of a translation.
