reparenting
Self-nurturing therapeutic practice
Reparenting is the psychological process of providing oneself—or receiving from a therapist—the emotional nurturing that was absent in childhood.
The concept comes from therapy, where adults learn to meet their own unmet developmental needs: Reparenting my inner child has been the hardest part of recovery.
In computing, reparenting means reassigning an element to a different parent in a hierarchy: The window manager reparented the application window.
