regulatory signs
Posted legal requirements
Regulatory signs are traffic signs that communicate laws or regulations drivers must obey.
They include stop signs, yield signs, speed limits, and no-turn indicators.
Unlike warning signs (which alert to hazards) or guide signs (which provide directions), regulatory signs carry legal force—violating them can result in tickets or penalties.
Most are rectangular with black text on white backgrounds, though stop signs and yield signs have distinctive shapes.
