reedwork

Wind instrument components

Reedwork refers to the reed pipes in a pipe organ, as distinct from flue pipes.

Reed pipes produce sound when air vibrates a metal tongue against a shallot, creating the brassy, penetrating tones of trumpet, oboe, and clarinet stops.

Reedwork can also mean decorative work featuring reed-like patterns, or crafts made from reeds: The basket's reedwork was intricate.
