reconcilability

Capacity for agreement

Reconcilability is the quality of being able to be reconciled—brought into agreement, harmony, or compatibility.

It applies to conflicting accounts, opposing viewpoints, or estranged parties: The reconcilability of their two stories seemed unlikely.

The term appears most often in discussions of whether differences can be resolved: scholars debating the reconcilability of science and religion.
