reboring
Widening engine cylinders
Reboring is the process of enlarging and resurfacing the cylinders of an internal combustion engine.
When cylinder walls become worn or scored, reboring restores them to a precise, smooth finish, though at a slightly larger diameter requiring new pistons.
The term applies to any boring operation done a second time: The gunsmith recommended reboring the barrel.
