re-search
Scholarly fact-finding work
Re-search, with a hyphen, means to search again—to look through something a second time after an initial search failed to find what you needed: I re-searched the drawer and finally found the receipt.
The hyphen distinguishes it from research (investigation or study), though context usually makes the meaning clear.
