razor burn

Post-shave redness

Razor burn is skin irritation caused by shaving—redness, stinging, and sometimes small bumps that appear shortly after the blade passes.

It results from friction, dull blades, or insufficient lubrication: I shaved too fast and got terrible razor burn on my neck.

Distinguished from razor bumps, which are ingrown hairs.
