A railway depot is a station or terminal where trains stop for passengers or freight, or a facility where railway equipment is stored, maintained, and serviced.
The term is more common in British English and historical American usage: The old railway depot has been converted into a restaurant.
In American English, train station or rail yard are now more typical.
