radical thought
Extreme mental departure
Radical thought is thinking that challenges fundamental assumptions or seeks change at the root level—the word radical itself comes from the Latin for root.
The phrase often describes political or philosophical ideas that question established systems rather than merely reforming them: Her radical thought on property rights influenced a generation of activists.
It can carry either admiration or suspicion depending on the speaker's stance toward the status quo.
