rack focus
Change depth clarity
Rack focus is a cinematography technique where the camera operator shifts focus from one subject to another within the same shot, typically to redirect the viewer's attention: The camera rack focuses from the gun in the foreground to the detective's face.
The technique creates a deliberate, visible transition between focal planes rather than cutting to a new shot.
Also called pull focus or focus pull.
