Rectangular anatomical structure
Quadratus is an anatomical term for square-shaped muscles, from the Latin for "squared." The quadratus lumborum runs along the lower back between the pelvis and lowest rib.
The quadratus femoris is a flat muscle in the buttock that rotates the thigh.
Several other muscles bear the name: quadratus plantae, quadratus labii.
