pyorrhoea
Pus from gums
Pyorrhoea is a severe gum disease in which the gums become infected, recede, and discharge pus.
The teeth loosen as the supporting bone deteriorates.
The term is older medical vocabulary, now largely replaced by periodontitis in clinical settings: The dentist warned that untreated gingivitis could progress to pyorrhoea.
Also spelled pyorrhea.
