put-back

Offensive rebound conversion

A put-back is a basketball term for a shot made immediately after grabbing an offensive rebound, putting the ball back into the basket before returning to the floor or resetting the play.

It's considered a high-effort, opportunistic score that rewards aggressive rebounding.

He grabbed the miss and got the put-back to tie the game.

The term also applies more generally to the act of returning something to its original position.
