pumpkin chunking
Squash throwing competition
Pumpkin chunking is a competitive activity in which participants build mechanical devices—typically catapults, trebuchets, or air cannons—to hurl pumpkins as far as possible.
The sport originated in Delaware in the 1980s and has since spread to events across North America, often held around Halloween.
Competitions are divided into categories based on the type of launching mechanism, with some machines capable of throwing pumpkins over a mile.
