provincial park
Regional protected area
A provincial park is a protected natural area established and managed by a provincial or state government, smaller in scope than national parks but serving similar purposes of conservation and recreation.
Common in Canada, where provinces maintain extensive park systems: We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park last summer.
The equivalent in U.S. states is typically called a state park.
