presidential oath
Executive office vow
The presidential oath is the oath of office prescribed by the U.S.
Constitution, sworn by each incoming president before assuming power.
The brief text—beginning I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President—is traditionally administered by the Chief Justice at inauguration ceremonies.
Presidents customarily add so help me God at the end, though the Constitution doesn't require it.
