precocious puberty
Premature adolescent development
Precocious puberty is the onset of puberty abnormally early—typically before age 8 in girls or age 9 in boys.
The body begins developing adult sexual characteristics (breast development, pubic hair, growth spurts) years ahead of schedule.
The condition may result from hormonal disorders or have no identifiable cause.
Medical treatment can slow or pause development until an appropriate age.
