A pot boy is a worker in a pub or tavern who collects empty glasses and mugs, clears tables, and does general cleanup.
The term is British and old-fashioned, largely replaced by more generic job titles.
Also spelled potboy.
The pot boy made his rounds, gathering tankards from the tables.
