pond weed
Lake surface greenery
Pond weed is any of various aquatic plants that grow in ponds, lakes, and slow-moving water.
The term applies loosely to many submerged or floating plants, but especially to members of the genus Potamogeton, which have long stems and narrow leaves.
Pond weed provides habitat for fish and invertebrates but can become a nuisance when overgrown: The pond weed choked the swimming area.
