police lines
Yellow tape boundaries
Police lines are barriers—physical or symbolic—that mark the boundary of an area controlled by law enforcement.
Yellow tape reading "Police Line Do Not Cross" is the most familiar form, cordoning off crime scenes or accident sites.
The phrase also refers to formations of officers blocking access: Protesters faced police lines outside the convention center.
