pluviograph

Rainfall measuring instrument

A pluviograph is an instrument that automatically records rainfall over time, producing a continuous chart of precipitation.

Unlike a simple rain gauge that measures total accumulation, a pluviograph tracks when rain fell and at what intensity: The pluviograph showed the heaviest downpour occurred between 3 and 4 a.m.
