play-action passes
Deceptive quarterback aerials
Play-action passes are football plays where the quarterback fakes a handoff to a running back before throwing.
The deception draws defenders toward the line of scrimmage, creating openings for receivers downfield.
Play-action works best when a team has established a credible running game: The play-action pass caught the linebacker flat-footed.
