plasticiser
Polymer flexibility agent
A plasticiser is an additive mixed into materials—typically plastics, concrete, or rubber—to increase flexibility, workability, or softness.
Without plasticisers, PVC would be rigid and brittle; with them, it becomes pliable enough for electrical cables or vinyl flooring.
The spelling plasticizer is standard in American English.
