plastic bullet

Crowd control projectile

A plastic bullet is a large projectile made of plastic or rubber, fired from a specialized gun for crowd control.

Designed to be "less lethal" than conventional ammunition, plastic bullets can still cause serious injury or death.

They became notorious during the Troubles in Northern Ireland: Security forces fired plastic bullets at the protesters.
