plagiarize

Steal another's words

To plagiarize means to use someone else’s work, such as their writing, without attribution, so that your audience will think you are the author.

The object of plagiarize is usually a created work (The essay was often plagiarized by Addison’s contemporaries), but it may be the name of the original author or creator: You can’t plagiarize Beethoven and get away with it.
