pitch pipes
A cappella starters
A pitch pipe is a small wind instrument that sounds a reference note for singers or musicians to tune to.
Traditional pitch pipes produce a single tone; circular pitch pipes have multiple reeds arranged around a wheel, each labeled with a note name.
The choir director blew the pitch pipe before they began.
Electronic tuners have largely replaced them.
