pet rent
Furry tenant surcharge
Pet rent is a recurring fee charged by landlords to tenants who keep pets in a rental property, separate from and in addition to the standard rent.
Unlike a one-time pet deposit, pet rent is typically paid monthly: The apartment allows dogs, but they charge $50 pet rent on top of the base rent.
The fee ostensibly covers additional wear and cleaning associated with animals.
