damage deposit
Landlord's insurance payment
A damage deposit is money paid upfront to a landlord or rental company as security against potential damage to the property.
If the renter causes damage beyond normal wear and tear, the deposit covers repairs; otherwise, it's returned when the lease ends.
Also called a security deposit.
