pentanol
Five-carbon alcohol
Pentanol is any of several alcohols containing five carbon atoms, used as solvents and in organic synthesis.
The most common form, 1-pentanol or amyl alcohol, has a mild odor and appears in industrial applications and as a flavoring agent.
Like other alcohols in this range, pentanol sits between the lighter, more volatile alcohols and heavier ones, making it useful where moderate evaporation rates are needed.
