A pending sale describes a property or item that has an accepted offer but hasn't completed the transaction.
In real estate, a house with a pending sale is under contract—the seller has accepted a buyer's offer, but the deal awaits financing approval, inspections, or closing paperwork: The listing shows pending sale, so we can't make an offer.
The status falls between "for sale" and "sold."
