pastoral ministry
Caring for souls
Pastoral ministry is the work of caring for the spiritual needs of a congregation or community.
The term comes from the image of a shepherd tending a flock—pastors guide, counsel, comfort, and lead those in their care.
Pastoral ministry includes preaching, visiting the sick, conducting funerals and weddings, and offering spiritual direction: She felt called to pastoral ministry after years of teaching.
