passing zone
Legal lane change
A passing zone is a section of roadway where drivers are permitted to cross into the oncoming lane to overtake slower vehicles.
These zones are marked by broken lane lines and typically appear on straight stretches with clear sightlines: Wait for the passing zone before you try to get around that truck.
The opposite is a no-passing zone.
