overplanting
Too many seeds
Overplanting is putting too many plants in a space, whether a garden bed, pot, or agricultural field.
Gardeners sometimes overplant deliberately, expecting some seedlings to fail, then thin later.
But overplanting often leads to crowded roots, competition for nutrients, and stunted growth: The tomatoes struggled because I overplanted the raised bed.
