diminishing returns
Shrinking incremental gains
Diminishing returns describes a point where additional effort or investment yields progressively smaller benefits.
The term comes from economics, where adding more of one input (labor, capital) eventually produces less output per unit added.
It extends broadly: After three hours of studying, I hit diminishing returns.
The law of diminishing returns isn't about negative results—just shrinking gains.
