overassessments
Excessive value judgments
Overassessments are valuations set too high, typically of property for tax purposes.
When a municipality overassesses homes, owners pay more than their fair share: The county corrected the overassessments after residents appealed.
The term also applies to any excessive evaluation—of risk, ability, or worth.
