old folks
The elderly generation
Old folks is an informal, affectionate term for elderly people, especially one's parents or grandparents: I'm heading home to visit the old folks.
The phrase can also refer to elderly people generally: The old folks at the nursing home enjoyed the concert.
Less common now than it once was, it carries a folksy, familiar tone rather than a clinical one.
