off-track betting
Distant race gambling
Off-track betting is wagering on horse races at a location away from the racetrack itself—typically a dedicated betting parlor or licensed establishment that broadcasts races and accepts bets.
The system allows gamblers to place bets without attending the track: He spent Saturday afternoon at the off-track betting facility downtown.
Often abbreviated OTB.
