observation dome
Transparent lookout chamber
An observation dome is a transparent or windowed enclosure, typically hemispherical, designed for viewing the surroundings.
On ships and submarines, it provides 360-degree visibility above deck or underwater.
In astronomy, observatory domes house telescopes while protecting them from weather.
Science fiction features observation domes on spacecraft and space stations: The crew gathered in the observation dome to watch the planet rise.
