notecards

Portable revision slips

Notecards are small pieces of stiff paper used for recording information—typically index cards bearing handwritten notes for study, speeches, or research.

Students put vocabulary or facts on notecards to quiz themselves.

Writers arrange notecards to organize ideas before drafting.

The term also applies to blank cards for writing personal messages, smaller than standard stationery: She sent thank-you notecards after the party.
