Nice guy syndrome describes a pattern where someone—usually a man—believes that being helpful, agreeable, and accommodating entitles him to romantic or sexual interest from women.
When attraction doesn't follow, he feels cheated or resentful, revealing that his "niceness" was transactional rather than genuine: He claimed women only want jerks, classic nice guy syndrome.
The term is usually pejorative, implying self-deception about one's own motives.
