remote viewing

Distant mental perception

Remote viewing is the purported psychic ability to perceive distant locations, objects, or events without using the ordinary senses.

The term emerged from U.S. government-funded parapsychology research in the 1970s and 80s, where subjects attempted to describe targets hundreds of miles away: The remote viewer claimed to see a military installation in the Soviet Union.

The practice has no scientific support but maintains a following in paranormal circles.
