nameday

Patron saint's feast

A nameday is the feast day of a saint after whom a person is named, celebrated in many Catholic and Orthodox Christian cultures as an alternative or complement to a birthday.

In countries like Greece, Poland, and Hungary, namedays often carry more social weight than birthdays: Her nameday falls on Saint Catherine's Day.

The word also appears as two words or hyphenated.
