muckheap

Farm waste mound

A muckheap is a pile of manure, rotting vegetation, or general farm refuse—the accumulated waste from stables, barns, and fields.

The word is chiefly British and somewhat old-fashioned.

Figuratively, it describes any foul or disreputable place or situation: The whole project became a muckheap of corruption and mismanagement.
