morning call
Early telephone ring
A morning call is a wake-up call, especially one requested from a hotel front desk: I asked for a morning call at six.
In older usage, a morning call was a brief social visit paid during daytime hours—despite the name, these could occur well into the afternoon.
The phrase now appears most often in hospitality contexts.
