moral worth
Goodness of character
Moral worth is the ethical value of a person, action, or character—the degree to which something deserves moral praise or blame.
In philosophy, particularly Kantian ethics, an action has moral worth only when done from duty rather than self-interest or inclination: Helping others for praise lacks moral worth; helping because it's right has it.
The term appears in debates about what makes people genuinely good versus merely well-behaved.
