mopers
Perpetually downcast folks
Mopers are people who mope—those who sulk, brood, or drift about in low spirits.
The word suggests passive dejection rather than dramatic grief: The mopers sat around the house all weekend instead of doing anything productive.
It carries mild disapproval, implying someone should snap out of it.
